Major access routes
Access routes to the Museum from airports and major railway stations are as shown below.
Osaka Monorail
From Banpaku-Kinen-Koen Station of the Osaka Monorail, it is about a 15 minute walk through the Gardens (Shizen-Bunka-En, or Natural and Cultural Gardens) to the Museum. If you buy an admission ticket for the museum at one of the park entrances, admission to the park will not be charged. Research visitors can be issued with a free pass.
After leaving the Monorail station, turn left down a long ramp, then left again across a bridge over the motorway.
From Koen-Higashiguchi Station of the Osaka Monorail, there is a direct path (about a 13 minute walk) to the museum. After leaving the station, turn left, cross the bridge over the road.
Bus
Buses from JR Ibaraki Station, Hankyu Ibaraki-shi Station (bound for Expoland, Senri-Chuo, or Handai-Byouin-Honbu-Mae), and Senri-Chuo Station (bound for Hankyu Ibaraki-shi Station) stop at Nihon-Teien-Mae. From there it is about a 13 minute walk to the Museum.
The museum is close to the Nihon-Teien-Mae bus stop of the Banpaku (Expo Park) shuttle bus. (Note that bus service is not available from December 1 to the end of February.)
Taxi
Taxis are allowed to enter the National Museum of Ethnology grounds. The nearest suitable stations for obtaining a taxi are JR Ibaraki and Senri-Chuo Station (Midosuji Subway Line).
Car
Private cars should be parked at one of the Expo Park parking lots.
