There are two categories of permanent exhibition, regional and thematic. The regional exhibitions focus on Oceania, Americas, Europe, Africa, West Asia, Southeast Asia, Central/North Asia, and East Asia, and the thematic exhibitions focus on Language and Music. 

In the Special Exhibition Hall, temporary exhibitions on special topics are organized each year.  These exhibitions often involve rare ethnological materials loaned by museums in other countries.
